Your Vision. Your Way.
Imagine being able to fine-tune your vision after cataract surgery, not just before it.
The RxSight® Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®) is an innovative intraocular lens designed to give you and your surgeon greater control over your visual outcome. Unlike traditional fixed lenses, the Light Adjustable Lens can be customized after it has been implanted, allowing your surgeon to fine-tune the lens based on how your eye heals and how you actually see.
A Lens That Can Be Customized After Surgery
With traditional intraocular lenses, your lens power is selected before surgery based on measurements and calculations. Once the lens is implanted, its prescription cannot be changed.
The Light Adjustable Lens is different.
After cataract surgery and once your eye has healed, your surgeon can use the RxSight® Light Delivery Device™ to make precise adjustments to the lens using controlled UV light. This allows your vision to be fine-tuned based on your actual post-surgery vision and your individual lifestyle preferences.
Rather than having to predict exactly what your vision will be before surgery, the Light Adjustable Lens gives you the opportunity to experience your vision first and then customize it.
How the Light Adjustable Lens Works
After your cataract is removed, the Light Adjustable Lens is implanted just like a traditional IOL. Your eye then needs time to heal.
Once your eye has healed sufficiently, you will return to our office for your light treatments. Your surgeon will evaluate your vision and discuss your visual goals with you. Depending on your individual needs, the lens may be adjusted one or more times until your desired vision is achieved. The final treatments "lock in" your customized prescription so that it is permanently established.
Your Vision Can Be Fine-Tuned to Your Lifestyle
One of the most exciting benefits of the Light Adjustable Lens is the ability to customize your vision based on what matters most to you.
Whether your priorities include seeing clearly at distance, improving intermediate vision for computers and everyday activities, or reducing your dependence on glasses, you can work with your surgeon during the adjustment process to determine the visual outcome that best fits your lifestyle.
RxSight UV-Protective Glasses
Because the Light Adjustable Lens is sensitive to UV light during the adjustment period, wearing the special RxSight UV-protective glasses after surgery is an essential part of the treatment process.
You will receive RxSight UV-protective glasses to help protect your lens from unintended exposure to UV light while your vision is being customized.
The glasses are an important part of protecting the lens while it remains adjustable. You will continue wearing them until 24 hours after your final lock-in treatment, according to your surgeon's instructions.
A New Approach to Cataract Surgery
The Light Adjustable Lens gives you something traditional fixed lenses cannot: the ability to fine-tune your lens after surgery.
Your eyes are unique. Your lifestyle is unique. Your vision should be, too.
